The Problem
Chiropractic offices are drowning in paper. Patient intake is done on clipboards. SOAP notes are handwritten or dictated to a transcriptionist. Insurance claims are built manually in legacy software that hasn't been updated since the 2000s. Billing is tracked on spreadsheets. Each part of the workflow lives in a different tool — or on paper — with no connection between them. The result: lost revenue from missed codes, delayed claim submissions, and hours of administrative overhead that should be spent on patient care.
The Solution
ChiroMike is a single, unified platform that covers the entire patient lifecycle — digital intake with AI-powered insurance card scanning, AI-assisted SOAP note generation, a full CMS-1500 claim builder with CPT/ICD-10 quick-tap panels, AR aging dashboards, Stripe payments, and EDI 837 export. Built as a HIPAA-aware PWA, it works on any device and installs like a native app.

Product Strategy

My Role
As founder and developer, I:
- Identified the workflow gaps in a real chiropractic office (Huwe Chiropractic) and designed the system around them
- Built the full CMS-1500 / HCFA-1500 claim builder with CPT/ICD-10 quick-tap panel and diagnosis pointer management
- Implemented AI-powered insurance card scanning using OCR to auto-fill patient insurance fields
- Built the interactive body pain map (front/back SVG diagram) for patient intake
- Integrated Google Calendar two-way sync with real-time webhook updates
- Built AI-assisted SOAP note generation with voice dictation and note polishing
- Implemented Stripe payment integration for one-time and membership billing plans
- Designed the AR Aging dashboard with 30/60/90/120+ day buckets and resubmission queue
- Built HIPAA compliance infrastructure: audit logging, consent capture, BAA, and privacy documentation
- Integrated Faxage API for sending clinical documents directly from the app
Product Decisions
Why build all-in-one vs. integrating with existing EHR software?
Existing chiropractic EHR systems (ChiroTouch, Jane App) are expensive, complex, and not AI-native. A purpose-built platform can be leaner, faster, and more affordable for small practices while incorporating modern AI that legacy systems can't easily add.
Why AI for SOAP notes specifically?
SOAP note documentation is one of the biggest time drains for chiropractors. A practitioner seeing 20+ patients per day can spend 2–3 hours just on notes. AI-assisted generation with voice dictation can reduce that to minutes, which is a direct ROI argument that resonates immediately with practitioners.
Why build HIPAA compliance infrastructure from scratch?
Healthcare software without a credible HIPAA story doesn't get past the first conversation with a practice owner. Building audit logging, consent capture, BAA, and privacy documentation from day one positions ChiroMike as a serious clinical tool, not a side project.
Why PWA instead of native iOS/Android?
Chiropractic offices use a mix of iPads, Windows desktops, and Android tablets. A PWA works everywhere with a single codebase, installs like a native app, and avoids App Store approval delays — critical for a healthcare tool that needs to update frequently.

What I Would Improve Next
Strategic improvements to take ChiroMike to a full production SaaS:
- Multi-practice / multi-provider support for group practices and billing companies
- Direct clearinghouse integration (Change Healthcare, Availity) for real-time claim status
- Patient portal: self-scheduling, intake pre-fill, and secure messaging
- Automated ERA (Electronic Remittance Advice) parsing for auto-posting insurance payments
- Referral tracking and outcomes reporting for PI/auto cases
- Native iOS and Android apps with offline SOAP note capability
- Usage-based tiered pricing with per-provider licensing for scalable revenue
- Telehealth module with HIPAA-compliant video consultations
